Fending for Themselves

Over 20 years ago people had to fend for themselves . Now days people either people hire other people to do their work for them or buy what they need from the store. Most farmers used their own hands on the farm to do what needed to be done. Now certain farmers have factory machinery to do the work for them. My parents when they were in their first few years of marriage they had their own gardens and canned the vegetables they grew there. Now we usually just buy the stuff from our local grocery store.

Farm equipment has changed tremendous especially the tractors like my dad has this old David brown tractor he had that and he used to use around the house for different things. Now he has this nice Kubota tractor that is made totally different than the old David brown tractors. You were even lucky if you had tractor because most people used their horses to plow up the ground because they were usually to poor to have their own tractor. Tools have changed like the weed eater they did not have weed eaters they had an old sickle they used my grandpa when he was growing that’s what they used to cut the hay. Instead Your now day round bale or square bale hay . They would just have and old giant stick coming out of the ground and they would wrap the hay around it to keep it.

In conclusion as the years go by people are getting more and more lazy soon the American farmer will be rare. I fear that day but if we teach the younger generations about the importance of farming then maybe we can still save ourselves from that dreadful day.
