Rural Life Back in the Day

Rural life back in the day was quite different from now. Most of the labor was done by man, rather than machinery today. Children got out of school during the summer to help their parents work on the farm. Todays methods and tools differ greatly from twenty years ago.

In rural life, we have become more technologically advanced and are able to bend machinery to our will. Machinery was just getting bigger twenty years ago, but now it is what keeps the farming industry alive. Like tractors for example, even though they existed then, they have become more advanced as of today and perform more efficiently. Life back then was hard work, and the only time you got a break was during the winter, which was hard in itself. Hopefully by winter, you had enough food to make it through. Farmers usually provided for themselves, and if they had a good harvest, then those could be commercially sold. However, if you had a bad harvest, then it would really hurt you.

I cannot recall a relative in my immediate family that worked on a farm twenty years ago, but I do understand that it was a lot different from today.
