West Virginia Agriculture Heritage Contest Every family has stories and photos depicting farm life from earlier generations.  These stories and photos are sentimental and interesting to our family but they are also historical "treasures"

This picture was taken in the 1940’s before my Grandpa, James Edwin Brown, went to World War II.  He lived on the family farm were I live know.  It is in Cashmere, WV in Monroe County, on the 94 acre farm.  He returned from the war and fathered one child, a son, my father, James Anthony Brown.  The first name ‘James’ is a tradition in our family, the first-born son of each generation, as far back as I have records, is named James.
